Local nonprofits participate in Love UT Give UT on March 22

On March 22, 2013, the Community Foundation of Utah is hosting Love UT Give UT, a virtual fundraising party, for over 560 nonprofits in Utah.

While many nonprofits are holding special events to celebrate the day, those interested in donating do not have to do anything more than click, pick and give.

“March is a time when we celebrate spring and renewal,” says Fraser Nelson, executive director for the Community Foundation of Utah. “Online giving is a great way to bring in new donors.”

The minimum donation for the site is $10, and 95 percent of the donation goes to the chosen nonprofit. The other five percent is split between Razoo as the host web site and the Community Foundation of Utah as the host nonprofit.

For those who have a hard time choosing which nonprofit to give to, there is a “Love them all” button that will allow people to donate to a general fund administered by the Community Foundation of Utah. Donations can be set up ahead of time.

“The last time the nation saw Utah come together was the Olympics,” says Nelson. “This will be another way to show the nation… that there is nobody better than Utah” when it comes to caring about people.

Among the nonprofits participating are HEAL Utah, the Utah Animal Adoption Center and Comunidades Unidas.
