On Friday, Oct. 11, the Carolinas Figure Skating Club in Indian Trail, N.C. will welcome hundreds of competitive figure skaters from throughout the eastern section of the United States to the Extreme Ice Center for the 2014 South Atlantic Non-Qualifying Figure Skating Championships, one of the South Atlantic region’s largest non-qualifying competitions of the season.
Several Pittsburgh area competitors representing the Skating Club of Mt. Lebanon and the Pittsburgh Figure Skating Club will be in attendance at this year’s competition, which is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, Oct. 13. They will compete in a variety of events, including free skate, test track free skate, compulsory moves and solo ice dance. Those skaters placing among the top four in their flight will advance to the final round with the exception of free skate events in which there are 24 or more competitors; these skaters will compete in a qualifying round where the top four skaters from that group will advance to the final round.
The 2014 South Atlantic Non-Qualifying Figure Skating Championships is sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and hosted by the Carolinas Figure Skating Club.
