A new event called PLAY DAT! has arrived. The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra joins the practice of NOLA clubs and Fairground stages in a professional 'sit-in' on February 1st. The all-day event allows any musicians 13 or older to bring their own instruments along to rehearse with orchestra members at UNO's Lakefront Arena.

Music director and principal conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto takes the lead for this rehearsal. Participating amateurs will practice side-by-side with LPO and community guests. Music will be provided for musicians at all skill levels.

Rehearsal will take place from 10am to 12:30pm, with a final performance at 2:30. Auditions are not required, however musicians must register before attending. Interested parties can go online, call 504.523.6530 (ext. 501), or e-mail LPO's Director of Education and Community Engagement: Amanda Wuerstlin.

A registration fee ($25 for ages 13-18, $40 for 19+) covers lunch for the day, plus a PLAY DAT! T-shirt.

Instrument spots still open include:

while the following instruments are filled/have a waiting list:
