Taylor Robinson has been around the Dallas music scene for quite a few years. You might have seen him on stage with the band Fallen From the Nest, or Robinson Hall, or maybe performing solo. A couple of my favorite original songs by Taylor are "Perfect" and "The Queen".
On Friday night, April 11, Taylor's company, Taylor Robinson Music, will be featured on ABC's reality show Shark Tank. The Shark Tank has a panel of self-made multi-millionaire entrepreneurs which participants try to persuade to invest in their platform, whether it is a tangible product, or a concept. Often the sharks' discussion/critique turns into a bidding war, leaving open the choice of which shark, if any, to make a deal with. The "sharks" are Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, fashion and branding expert Daymond John, venture capitalist Kevin O'Leary, real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, technology innovator Robert Herjavec, and the "Queen of QVC", Lori Greiner. This show has helped to fulfill the dreams of many people who have come before the sharks. On the other hand, some have watched their dreams crumble. It takes courage to plunge into the Shark Tank.
Taylor Robinson Music Company is a national chain of music schools that offer private, one on one music lessons, with lessons customized for each individual student. Students can choose their teacher by searching the profiles of the many instructors, then choose the location of their lessons, at home or in a studio. Lessons are offered in guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano and keyboards, vocals, orchestra, songwriting, engineering, and midi-processing. You can get an idea of how successful this company is when it comes to teaching by watching this video of one of TRMC's 10 year old students, Brennon.
Taylor is working to expand the business and continue "his mission: to spread the passion for music that we all share and to engender the artist in all of us". His motto: "Come to Taylor Robinson Music and learn to play from the heart!"
Do you think that you have an idea or product that you would like to throw out to the sharks and see if they bite? If so, you can get your application here. Be sure to watch Shark Tank Friday night, April 11, at 8 p.m. on Channel 8 to see how well Taylor Robinson Music Company survives the Tank.
