Local musician A.J. Carroll taken from this world too soon

A.J. Carroll was young in years, but he touched the lives of many in his short time here. Anthony James Carroll was born May 14, 1991, and passed away last Friday, April 25, 2014.

A.J. was loved by everyone who met him. He almost always had a wide, infectious grin radiating from his face. Whenever you saw A.J., he never failed to have a big smile and a hug for you. He was so full of life. It is hard to accept that that life is now gone. He was taken from this world far too soon. A.J. Carroll will be missed by so many.

A.J. had been a part of the Dallas music scene since his early teen years. He was an original member of the band Revengeance, which was formed while the members were still in high school. Playing the drums was A.J.'s passion, and over the years he grew to be an excellent musician. After leaving Revengeance, A.J. pursued his dream of being a drummer, moving to LA to study at the Musician's Institute.

The funeral service for A.J. Carroll will be held Friday, May 2, at 2 p.m., at the Torrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Viewing will be the night before from 7 - 9 p.m. Directions can be found here.

A memorial to celebrate the life of A.J. will be held at Reno's Chop Shop on Sunday afternoon, May 4, at 4 p.m. This will not be a benefit, but a gathering of friends to support each other in this time of grief, and to share memories of A.J.. Musicians, feel free to bring your instruments. Food will also be welcomed. Reno's is located at 210 Crowdus in Deep Ellum.
