Mariners Inn is a community resource for men who need housing and help from substance abuse and addictions.
"The mission of Mariners Inn is to provide 24 hour, residential, substance abuse treatment for adult, homeless men of Southeastern Michigan, in a professional, compassionate, therapeutic environment conducive to reducing their problems of drug and alcohol addiction, thereby promoting their return to health, independence, and increased self-worth. :At Mariners Inn we are dedicated to helping homeless men, seeking to be free of addiction, live an independent life filled with dignity and purpose." - read more http://www.marinersinn.org/about
As a former resident of Mariners Inn, Maurice Hunter was able to use that resource in order to get his life on track and he is now employed and once again a productive member of society. The information for Mariners Inn is provided above so that others who may be in need can seek help if help is needed during difficult times. Never be afraid to ask for help. It takes much strength and courage to seek help when you accept that you cannot do it on your own; and I know from my own personal experience when undergoing cancer treatments.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mosaic Artist Maurice Hunter when I was assigned a community project which was a requirement of an Honor's Art course at Wayne State University. It was a great experience and it opened my eyes to some of the needs of our community.
At the time Maurice was receiving media attention for his mosaic art and his successful recovery at Mariners Inn. All of his pieces are unique and he caters to customer's requests. I sought Maurice out last week to find out what he has been up to. I was happy to discover that he has made great strides in his life and in his art. I am glad to share this update.
Thank you, Maurice for this interview and congratulations on your new home and engagement!
