On August 11, 2012, the incredibly talented virtuoso jazz pianist Vernell Brown Jr will be stopping in Las Vegas to headline Jazz Under the Stars, part of the Saturday Night Jazz on the Lake Concert Series, located at MonteLago Village.
Brown, who is currently on tour with Kenny Garret, is taking a break from the road for a one night only performance at scenic Lake Las Vegas. He will be joined on stage with drummers John Nasshan and Gary Powell, percussionist “Doc T” Roy Turner and Bob Baker on bass, with guest appearances by vocalists Windy Karigianes and Brittany Brown.
A child prodigy, Vernell Brown began playing at 4 years of age, and by 17 he was signed by A&M records by producer Jerry Moss, who discovered the remarkable talent at a Grammy in the Schools program where Brown was performing as a substitute pianist.
Since then, Vernell Brown has collaborated with such notable jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Sample, Stix Hooper, the legendary A&M co-founder Herb Albert, and many others. In addition, Brown has toured with Ronnie Laws, the Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight, and currently touring in Europe and the Middle East with Kenny Garrett.
The Los Angles native who calls Las Vegas home when he isn’t traveling is set to release his third album, World Peace, New World in November.
