Chadwick Robinson is a local Houston home based entrepreneur. With six years of experience he is now reaching out to help other home based entrepreneurs by creating a meet up group. This group’s purpose is to network, connect and possibly identify new partners. Mr. Robinson shared a lot of insight for people who are thinking about a home based business and for those who need focus and direction. EH: What made you decide to create a home based business?
CR: Understanding the importance of creating wealth. I wanted to create my own desired check and get time back to share with my family and friends. Those are the two things I wanted to accomplish when I began to work for myself.
EH: You said you were expanding. Why?
CR: I want to expand out of my local market. The sky is the limit. I want to reach out and have an international presence. My business is heading to be an international business.
EH: What exactly is your business or products/services you offer?
CR: Organo Gold is healthy coffee, green tea, hot chocolate, etc. Coffee is the second most traded commodity outside of oil. People drink coffee more than any other drink second only to water.
EH: You said a home based business needs three things to survive. What are they and why are they so important?
CR: You need to have a solid product, good company structure and a mentor. If your product cannot stand alone, why would people want to buy it? Your product needs to be able to retail. A company with a strong and proven support system with tools set in place will help to ensure that your business endeavor will not collapse and it needs to be able to be duplicated. If the business structure cannot be duplicated, then your business may collapse and that is a waste of your time. The last and possibly most important thing to have if you are a home based entrepreneur is a mentor. Who are your leaders, personal coach or personal mentor? This person is here to help set you on the right path, answer any questions you may have and then teach you how to take your business to the next level. This person has to be available to you daily in order for you to have the proper guidance.
EH: What is the purpose of your meet up group?
CR: It is a collage of things. I believe your network is your net worth. The purpose is to connect like-minded individuals together to meet new people, build relationships, share ideas, identify and connect with people to help them in the right direction.
EH: Are they used as networking or possibly recruiting people to work with you?
CR: Definitely networking is a reason for the group. Through a process of networking, connecting happens. I call this shift and sort. Shift and sort is identifying key people who qualify for what you are doing as well as possibly working with you.
EH: When we spoke earlier you stated how the wealthy continue to grow. What are their secrets?
CR: The wealthy understands the power of the laws of the universe. They understand that your mindset must be a certain way. They understand the principals that attract the right people in your life. Read and digest this book by Napoleon Hill, “Think and Grow Rich.” I highly recommend this book. The average millionaire has read this book at least 13 times. But the number one Principal is what your mind can conceive and believe it can achieve.
EH: What is the one misconception a person has about working from home?
CR: The one misconception is people think it is easy to work from home. It is like a get out of jail free card or get rich quick scheme. People have to condition themselves mentally to work at home. They must change their mindset from a corporate type of thinking in order to be successful. 95% of Americans are employees. Only 3% of Americans make a six-figure income. In order to be successful working from home you need to research your business, create goals, work hard, be dedicated, constantly improve your self-development, and have great people skills. You have to know the consumer base you want to attract. Sacrifices are necessary.
EH: What are some valuable resources home based business owners should invest in whether they are time, money, or human capital?
CR: The most important thing is self-development. Your mindset has to change. You have to constantly improve yourself as a business professional. What are you reading? Reading is also important especially books related to what you are doing. You have to be a leader. Studying and researching in your niche is a necessity. Another book I suggest you read is, “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell.
EH: What advice would you give to someone who is considering a home based business?
CR: To make sure they indentify with the 3 key things: a solid product that can stand alone, a proven and strong company structure that can be duplicated and a mentor who is available to guide you. If you are not doing, you are practicing and that gets you nowhere.
