Local heroes benefit the The Heroes Foundation

Thursday, May 19, 2011, is the black tie awards ceremony called The Leadership Gala to benefit The Heroes Foundation with area sports players, actors, business executives, and Dallas socialites

This event is founded and hosted by the University of Texas alumni quarterback Matt Nordgren, CEO of Nordco Consulting, a Dallas-based energy consulting firm. Nordgren is a native Dallasite with an extensive background in charity and community involvement organizations, including The Heroes Foundation. 

Founded in 2001, The Heroes Foundation is a 501(c)3 Corporation that provides "programs for opportunity" that allows disadvantaged youth to participate in a select baseball program and potentially reach a higher level of playing to showcase talents in front of colleges and pro scouts. The foundation provides players with opportunities to receive professional training and to help players reach their goals of being the best player possible in skill, attitude, sportsmanship and mental composure.

The attendees at this gala event are the who's who in sports: Vince Young of the Tennessee Titans, Colt McCoy of the Cleveland Browns, Cedrick Benson of the Cincinnati Bengels, Miles Austin and Terence Newman of the Dallas Cowboys, Derrick Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs, Danny Amendola of the St. Louis Rams, Jonathan Scott of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and hockey players will be happy to know that the Dallas Stars' Captain Brenden Morrow will also be in attendance.

Actors Geoff Stults of 7th Heaven and Dennis Haskins of Saved By the Bell will also attend.
