Erik Odom worked for a while as a personal trainer at Norfolk Karate Academy, where his father, William Odom, a 25-year military veteran, is director.
Now, Odom, 24, is one of the newest cast members of Breaking Dawn - the first in the two part ending of the Twilight saga. The former Norfolk resident landed the role of the nomadic vampire Peter in "Breaking Dawn". The first part of Breaking Dawn opens November 18, 2011. Part two will follow in a year.
The film, adapted from the novel by Stephenie Meyer, will be directed by Bill Condon and will star Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
As per the Virginia Pilot, Odom's character, Peter, remains a mysterious figure that may, according to the actor's father, not appear until the last film. Summit Entertainment isn't revealing much about the plot.
In the book, the vampire Peter is an old friend of Jasper's, who is part of the Cullen family, who are central figures in the series. Amazingly he got the role through an open audition just like Chris Klien got his start when he was cast locally for Election.
Va Pilot quotes his father as saying, "Suddenly, he's getting offers from everywhere," his father said. "Whereas, there was nothing a few weeks ago."
This won't be the last we see of Erik Odom, that's for certain!
