The SFA Dining's Sustainable Dining Week is hosting a Local Foods Fair on Thursday, October 24th from 9am-1pm at the Student Center Plaza, located in front of the Baker Patillo Student Center, between the Student Center and the Rusk Building. There will be a large tent to cover tables, in case of rainy weather. Local farmers and vendors will have educational booths and samples.
Many studies show that additives, dyes, pesticides, preservatives and other chemicals can have dramatically bad effects on children with autism and other special needs. Local foods are generally fresh and affordable and often organic and can play an important part in your child's healthy eating plan.
This event will help raise awareness around the importance of local foods to our health and to the local economy and help to show the demand and interest from students and the SFA community to have fresh, local foods on campus. And for those farmers who are interested, SFA Dining can provide information on how to get certified to start a partnership with them.
