The Fairmount Farmer's Market has been offering Fairmount residents fresh, local and organic produce and baked goods since 2004. Located across the street from The Eastern State Penitentiary on 22nd and Fairmount, the market provides a wide array of seasonal products from local farms.
Every Thursday from May until November, The Fairmount Farmer's Market invites you to come and check out some fantastic products including: fresh fruit and veggies, egg and pork products, goat cheese and raw milk. While raw goat milk may not be your thing, you are sure to find something more appealing among the many homemade, artisanal breads and baked goods.
A variety of vendors attend The Fairmount Farmer's Market:
Representatives from Bennett Compost are available to give you some eco-friendly tips on how to dispose of compostable material right from your home.
On the 4th Thursday of every month, you can visit Neil’s Sharpening Service to get your cutting utensils ready for all those fresh and delicious meals that you are going to make.
Philly Fair Trade Roasters will also be at the market, explaining they offer “100 percent Arabica, hand-roasted coffee from fair trade certified cooperatives.” Stick that in your Keurig and brew it.
If that wasn’t enough variety for you, stop by the Lil' Pop Shop tent for “fresh, local and delicious” hand-crafted ice-pops. These all-natural pops come in a variety of less-than-natural flavors including: Red Hot Mango Chile Pepper, Pineapple Basil and Goat Cheese with Cherries. For those of you looking to cool off with a more traditional treat, Lil' Pop also offers more conventional flavors including: Raspberry Lemonade, Mayan Chocolate and Creamy Mint Chocolate Chunk.
