Captain Luc Gruenther is an Air Force pilot based at the Aviano Air Force Base in Italy, he is also a resident of Twain Harte, Ca. in the Motherlode.
Both Luc and his wife Cassy are graduates from Summerville High School and are expecting their first child. MML and Fox both report that wreckage from the F-16 has been found, but the pilot is still missing. While American and Italian personnel are still searching, there have been no reports on what other members of the flight may have seen at the time of the aircraft accident.
Gruenther reported trouble with the aircraft before being lost on the radar, but didn't get a message to air controllers regarding the nature of the problem.
Brig. Gen. Scott J. Zobrist. was quoted as stating: "We are dedicating all available resources to the search and rescue operation," ..... "I am hopeful that we will bring him home safely."
