Local event shines a light on Autism

Events are being held across the globe today marking the sixth annual World Autism Awareness Day.

Autism Speaks campaign, "Light It Up Blue", encourages everyone world-wide to illuminate buildings and landmarks with blue lights.

Locally, Westerly Town Hall was illuminated in blue lights for the very first time, joining in the awareness campaign for Autism, last night. The Westerly Town Hall will be lit in blue all week.

For the very first time, Westerly will have a "Light It Up Blue" event to shine a bright light on Autism and to raise funds for Autism Speaks tonight. The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Twisted Vine, 3 Canal Street in Westerly.

Funds raised at tonight's event in Westerly will go to Autism Speaks. If you are not able to attend, you can still donate. To donate: make checks payable to Autism Speaks, 990 Washington Street, Dedham, MA 02026.
