Nutritionists at Cornell University have confirmed research that when it comes to overeating, free will is a myth.
Their study indicated that the primary reason diets fail is because they address the wrong problem. Diet advice suggests that restricting calorie intake will be reached with willpower. But in reality environmental cues cause people to overeat, which disarm free will.
Overeating doesn't just cause people to gain weight; it can cause oral health issues as well. Doctor Dr. Jeremy Suess, the Clackamas-based dentist at Clackamas Smiles Family Dental is educating patient about the effects of overeating on their smile, but he is doing it in a surprising and uplifting manner.
"It is important to look at your environment in a holistic manner, rather than condemning yourself for lack of willpower, clean up your space for a more peaceful setting. We have put this idea into practice at our own dental office. We make sure our space is set up to create the most relaxing environment for our patients." Says, Doctor Dr. Jeremy Suess, the Clackamas-based dentist at Clackamas Smiles Family Dental.
