Many Americans are trying to find an economical way to take a phenomenal vacation. If one enjoys science fiction, comic books or fandom of any kind, a local convention could be the perfect option. Not only are these events fun and close, there are many reasons to take advantage of the opportunity that a local convention offers.
Fun time for the whole family
Fandom conventions are a place where people gather together to let their hair down and celebrate their passion for the subject of the event. Usually involving costumes and programing for all ages, conventions are a great place to learn and met others who share the same interests. For those with small children, do some research to see what children’s events the convention has available.
Reasonable prices
Most conventions have discounted hotel room blocks available for attendees. If travel costs are minimized by staying locally, one can enjoy all the amenities and luxury of staying at a hotel for minimal cost. A stay can even be extended before and after a convention to truly experience the entire event and also relax afterwards. In addition to the lower hotel rates, the ticket prices for most conventions are quite reasonable. On top of the prices, many events allow children in for a reduced price or even free.
Rub elbows with the stars
Conventions are a great place to meet actors, authors and directors for all of the favorite shows. Usually conventions will announce the guests well in advance, however please keep in mind that due to professional obligations sometimes the guest line up will change. Many conventions offer the opportunity to meet, obtain an autograph and take a picture with their guests.
In the Denver area, for example, there are many upcoming conventions that one can attend as a mini vacation. Within the next three months there are a handful of fantastic fan conventions taking place.
