Local Comedy Watch: Jaki's Buzz

I had the pleasure of attending a fund raising event this past Sunday, October 3rd, for a brand new Internet webisode series titled Jaki's Buzz, hosted by Pamela Glasner, author of acclaimed novel Finding Emmaus, and Jaki Valensi-Lauper, a talented actress in the New England and Tri-State area.  The event was held at Master of None in New Haven, CT and featured live entertainment, hors d'oeuvres, and pleasant mingling as part of the ticket price to raise funds to support the new show.

Jaki's Buzz is an entertainment talk show based on the East coast, although its material is not restricted by its location.

Part of the evening's attraction was the world premier of the promo clip from the pilot episode of Jaki's Buzz.  All attendees were treated to a short but wonderful taste of what this exciting new show has in store.  It was impeccably scripted, clearly well rehearsed, and most importantly laugh-out-loud funny.  I urge you to head on over to www.JakisBuzz.com to watch the promo and learn more about the show.

It was clear from the event that Jaki has won over and captivated the local scene.  The show already has a small but growing and devoted following, and a host of entertainers and other local celebrities, including myself, were more than happy to donate their time and services in order to support the show.

In particular, John Ramaglia, better known as John Ramm the Movie Man, made an appearance at the event to support Jaki's Buzz by donating two VIP passes to the Silk City Film Festival, one of the most up and coming film festivals in the world, being held this year right here in Hartford, CT.

These days when it seems like all networking, social interaction, and indeed entertainment takes place in the digital realm - and I realize fully the irony of writing about this for an Internet based publication - it is less and less common for people to get off their butts and head out for a few hours to support something new.  Jaki proved on Sunday that there are still those willing to come out and do exactly that.

I will be attending the Silk City Film Festival all weekend and meeting with Jaki to get an in depth interview about her work, history, and aspirations for Jaki's Buzz.

Stay tuned.
