Local club ultimate Frisbee team, Whagonweel, takes 11th at nationals

In its first year as a co-ed club ultimate Frisbee team, Whagonweel secured the second bid to the 2010 USA Ultimate Mixed National Championship, which spans from Oct. 28 to Oct. 31 in Sarasota, Fla.

Whagonweel went 1-2 in the first round of pool play, breaking seed and taking third in the pool. In the second round of pool play, the mixed team went 3-0, beating AMP – the team they lost to in the Regional final – and advanced to the championship bracket.

There, Whagonweel lost in prequarters 11-15 to Chad Larson.

After losing 8-14 to Snowbirds in the semifinal of the 9th place bracket, Whagoneweel beat AMP once more 15-6 to take eleventh overall.
