Local Christian students gear up for Winter Jam

Local Christian students are eagerly awaiting what could be the concert experience of the year--or, at the very least, the cheapest concert they'll be able to get into!  Winter Jam 2010 is coming to Knoxville on Saturday, March 6.  Youth ministers who plan to take their students as a group are relieved to note that there is no need to collect money in advance, and aside from being sure of drivers, no need to count heads.  Tickets are $10 at the door, and there will be no advance seating.

What makes this concert different from the dozens of others occurring throughout the year?  Winter Jam does not include just one artist, or even two or three.  This year's line-up includes:  Third Day; Newsboys; Tenth Avenue North; Fireflight; Sidewalk Prophets; Robert Pierre; Revive; and, as usual, sponsor Newsong.  The guest speaker will be Tony Nolan.  With this many Christian artists in one place, Winter Jam 2010 is sure to be a show to remember!

Winter Jam will be held at Thompson-Boling arena.  The show begins at six, but the doors open at five, and students and chaperones (as well as a number of adults) line up well in advance.  The pre-show begins at 5:20, and the concert is expected to end around 9:45.

In addition to the concert itself, there is a further opportunity for youth ministers at Winter Jam.  Prior to the concert, there will be a Youth Leader Reception (the time and location of which will be announced from the stage).  Youth ministers will be given the opportunity to meet the Winter Jam artists, learn about the ministry logistics of the evening, and discuss new resources and opportunities for their ministries.

Over 258,000 people have already attended concerts on the Winter Jam tour.  Of that number, more than 32,000 have made decisions for Christ.
