Comparing your business to that of a multi-national juggernaut is something that may seem dicey, but The Casual Pint co-owner Nathan Robinette rightfully believes it is not far-fetched.
Being in business since 2011, he, along with his father, John Robinette, has created a unique atmospheric place that allows customers to come in, have a beer at the store’s bar, mix and match any kind of beer they want in a six-pack.
“Beer has always been a passion of mine and something I have dabbled in from trying different beers, to making a little bit,” Nathan Robinette said. “I was able to put the two together and have beer and a store like this and have a bar. So it worked out really well.”
The store boasts over 400 different kinds of beer, along with 22 taps on the wall. Intertwining retail with a bar sounds like a great idea for customers who want to relax, have a pint and select a wide variety of beers to take with them.
“We blend the bar with the retail,” Robinette said. “So, you can come in and have a pint, try a few things that we have on draft, pick up a six-pack and take it home with you.
“You can also mix the six-pack. The mixing six is not unique, but the selection we have is unique; also, the growler option that we have available. You can fill a growler and take it home. That’s a really popular thing that folks are into.”
The Casual Pint can be found in two locations. One of which is in Bearden, while the other is near Market Square. Bearden’s Casual Pint has been around since 2011; Market Square’s opened last July. Robinette said he is not confined to just two stores, and expansion may be a possibility in the future.
Regardless, quality is of the utmost importance for the Robinettes’ The Casual Pint.
“It is not your typical bar or store. It was my vision to create the Starbucks of beer, with the paint schemes, the style that we have in the store. So it is not just your traditional smoky beer bar type of place.”
Store hours vary, depending on which location you are going to. For the store in Bearden, The Casual Pint is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – midnight, and Sunday from 1-8 p.m.
For the store in downtown Knoxville, The Casual Pint is open Sunday through Thursday from 3-11 p.m., Friday from 3 p.m. – 2 a.m., and Saturday from noon – 2 a.m.
