Nampa police have become concerned about a pattern of recent child enticement cases, and are asking for parents to talk to their children about being approached by strangers. Three separate reports in the short span of three weeks are causing police to call this a serious situation that deserves immediate attention. The first report came on December 13 from the Crestwood Estates subdivision near Karcher and Midway roads, when a teenage girl reported that someone tried to get her into his car. According to Nampa Police Sgt. Donald Peck, the girl was walking to the school bus when she was approached by a man in a newer white passenger car with four doors. He approached her and tried to entice her into the car with him. Police then received another similar report in the Crestwood area. Police also speculate that same person came over to the area of Iowa Avenue and Midland Boulevard, which is just a few miles from the first neighborhood, and did the same thing, after receiving a third report. All of the girls reported similar stories, but the suspect appears to have driven a different vehicle when the Iowa Avenue incident was reported. That vehicle was reported as being a late 90s or early 2000s dark colored 4-door car. Because the reports are now increasing, Police Sgt. Donald Peck says identifying this suspect is his top priority. Peck stated that "These children all responded wonderfully. They immediately told the individual no, they ran, they went to find somebody to help them." Although these cases all involved young teen or preteen girls, police say they're not ruling out boys as potential targets. Police are describing the suspect as either a white or light-skinned Hispanic man in his early 20s to early 30s. He is between 5-foot-6 to 6 feet tall with a small build, has brown eyes and brown hair. Any information about any of these incidents can be called in to Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
