Assistant Principal and Dean of Purcell Marian, Mike Moroski, was fired today by the Arch Diocese of Cincinnati.
Moroski, a Catholic, posted a blog in January expressing his support for gay marriage. His blog titled Choose Your Battles said that gays should be allowed to marry and gay marriage isn’t something to fear.
Fearful or not, Catholicism is known for its strict beliefs, many of which are centuries old. For instance, Catholic.com provides information about Catholics and their traditional beliefs. Furthermore, Catholicism doesn't support homosexuality or gay marriage.
Moroski tweeted this morning that the Arch Diocese of Cincinnati had fired him for supporting gay marriage. He said the Archdiocese gave him two choices: resign or recant his statements.
Although Moroski has received much support for taking a stand on his beliefs, Catholic school employees must sign an agreement to follow the Catholic Church doctrine, which forbids homosexuality and gay marriage.
Moroski said he wouldn’t recant his statement and he is willing to sacrifice his position for his beliefs.
