Presented by the Falmouth Rotary, proceeds from this event benefit the United Way of Greater Portland and some community projects in Falmouth, Maine. Support your local community while savoring a buttery lobster and grooving to some great reggae.
62nd Annual Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland
Taking place July 29th through August 2nd, the Maine Lobster Festival will include live entertainment, a parade, a road race, an art show, a crate race and of course, many pounds of lobster. Although lobster grabs the spotlight, visitors can also dine on clams, shrimp and mussels to satisfy their shellfish cravings. Ticket information is available by visiting the Maine Lobster Festival web site.
According to Tammy Kolmoski, President of the Maine Lobster Festival, this event has a long history of supporting needs of the local community and is made possible by 1200 volunteers and a board of 35 directors. Past festival revenues have been used to outfit a fire truck, acquire a new ambulance, pave Rockland’s Harbor Park parking lot and support The Maine Lighthouse Museum, home of the largest lighthouse lens collection in the northeast.
This year the Maine Lobster Festival made donations for children’s programs. Rockland District Middle School and Owls Head Central School received $500.00 each from the Maine Lobster Festival to support expenses for a global Destination Imagination competition to be held in Knoxville, Tennessee. Destination Imagination presents challenges to student teams that sharpen their strategizing, problem solving, team building and creative solution skills. Teams from these schools earned the chance to compete at the global competition when winning local and regional events. Join the fun at the Maine Lobster Festival. You will return home well fed, knowing your participation helped local children and Maine’s economy.
