The New Mexico baseball team found the road an unforgiving place again.
Texas Tech rolled to a 9-3 victory over the visiting Lobos on Tuesday afternoon in Lubbock.
John Pustay gave UNM (8-4-1) a 1-0 lead with a two-out RBI single in the first inning. The Red Raiders (10-3) responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame and never trailed again.
Five Texas Tech players had three or more hits in the game, pounding away at the Lobos' pitching staff. Stephen Smith went 4-for-5, falling a home run shy of the cycle. Adam Kirsch was 3-for-4, falling a triple short of the cycle.
Junior Jake Cole (0-1) made his first career start and ended up with the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk in 2.2 innings.
Sam Haggerty went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI to pace UNM at the plate. Freshman Danny Collier was 3-for-5 and Kirby McGuire finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Lobos will return home to open Mountain West Conference play against UNLV on Friday at 6 p.m.
