After a successful weekend on the road, the University of New Mexico Lobos hockey team returns home to face the Colorado School of Mines this weekend.
UNM was victorious in all three of their games last weekend. The Lobos faced the Ft. Lewis Skyhawks in Durango, Colorado on both Friday, January 15th and Saturday, January 16th.
Jack Crappell lead the way for the Lobos on Friday night posting a hattrick against the Skyhawks. Defenseman Chris Santiago also picked up a goal in Friday night's tilt. The Lobos beat the Skyhawks by a final of 5-1. On Saturday night, Max Smith was the playmaker for UNM. The Lobos doubled up the Skyhawks in a 4-2 final.
On Sunday, January 17th, the road weary Lobos visited Colorado State. They were victorious again. Captain Grant Harvey had a goal in the game and Nick Madrid was again an exhibition in offensive scoring, putting up a hattrick that included a short-handed goal.
The Lobos are in action both Friday and Saturday nights this weekend. The club, 13-2 on the season, will continue its push to post-season regional competition as they face the Ore Diggers at 8:00 PM both evenings at the Outpost Ice Arena in Albuquerque.
