Lobos and Toreros postponed by fog

A thick blanket of fog settled over Fowler Park in the third inning Friday night, forcing the New Mexico and San Diego baseball teams to postpone the remainder of their season-opening game in San Diego.

The game was tied 2-2 when the fog became to thick to see anything on the field. The game will resume Saturday at 1:35 p.m., with the second game of the series still set for a 5:35 p.m. start.

Chase Harris' two-run homer in the second inning had given UNM a brief 2-1 lead, only to see San Diego tie it up in the bottom of the frame.

Both games will be shown on Fox Sports San Diego, which is available on DirecTV (channel 694) and Dish Network (408).

The Lobos will wrap up the series Sunday before playing Tuesday at Arizona State. The home opener at Lobo Field is set for this coming Friday at 4 p.m. against Northern Illinois.
