Liz Lovely's Cowgirl Cookies bring out the sweet side of tough gals

Liz Lovely's Cowgirl Cookies are diamonds in the rough.

Have you ever seen an old western where a rough and tumble cowgirl turns out to have a heart of gold? The message is that even the most brash, brazen and roughest among us can have a sweet side. That's distinctly the case with these big, rustic Cowgirl Cookies from Liz Lovely : molasses-tinged hunks of soft, barely-baked goodness with dark chocolate chips.

Adding to the excitement of the Cowgirl Cookie is the fact that they're 100% vegan, certified organic, and made with ingredients you've heard of. Even Calamity Jane would be happy to hear that one of the components of the cookies is listed as "Vermont well water."

The aptly-nicknamed Liz Lovely sells the Cowgirl Cookies, along with her other handmade examples of baking genius, at Foodzie   If you're unfamiliar with the site, it acts as a sort of food-only version of Etsy, where the hand-crafted goods on offer are all of the edible variety.

While all of the Foodzie chefs are artisans in their own right, Liz Lovely is a standout among them, who says that cookies are her passion (and she cites the Cowgirl Cookie as her favorite cookie of all time). Many of her choices are even gluten-free.

Her other amazingly inventive cookie offerings include Goats-a-Grazin', a hearty oat cookie; dark, fudgy Chocolate Moose Dragons; and Mochadamia Mountains, made with actual fair trade organic coffee.

The big ol' Cowgirl Cookies are available for $3.99 per 2-pack. Need more coaxing to fall in love with this cowgirl? How about Liz Lovely's own assertion that these babies are "so soft, sweet, and slightly baked, you'll wonder why we didn't just leave it in the mixing bowl for you!"
