Living Faith versus the facade of faith

See also

Supposedly, there are 2.1 Billion Christians in the world.

Sometimes, however, it feels as if there are no Christians for miles and miles!

"If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,' but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:14-24, 26

Catholics fill a Cathedral on Christmas. Christians flock to Sunday service, blocking traffic for miles. But, be an ordinary citizen, struggling in extraordinary ways, and feel how little the disciple of Christ can do for you. 'Alleluia, praise the Lord.' Then vote for a Pro-Choice politician. The unborn baby doubts your Christianity! 'Amen, Jesus is Lord.' Then support gay 'marriage,' or remain silent as the Sacrament of Marriage is disparaged. The nuclear family, the building block of a healthy society, crumbles from the consequences of your pseudo-faith! 'Our Father who art in heaven...' Then you disobey the Church, the apostles of Jesus Christ, and immerse yourself in the culture of death through contraception. 'Hail Mary full of grace...' Then you (all of us!) disgrace yourself in your favorite personal sin.

Living faith works through the Cross. Dead 'faith' never rises to the occasion!

"Wealth and riches shall be in his house; his generosity shall endure forever. Light shines through the darkness for the upright; he is gracious and merciful and just." Psalm 112:1-6

The gospel of prosperity is a sham from the devil.

Riches, fame, and natural beauty, as undeserved gifts from God, are not a guaranteed ticket to heaven. Prosperity does not mark the saint--just as poverty does not mark the sinner. But you wouldn't perceive this in some Catholic parishes and Christian congregations. The 'American Idol' is a game played equally among non-believers...and believers! The 'cult of personality,' the worship of power, the charm of celebrity, and the sway of beauty DOES infest the heart of the disciples of Christ, moving them to treat the apparently gifted better than those deemed ordinary--or sub-ordinary.

Real faith recognizes the beauty of Mother Theresa BEFORE it recognizes the fame of the saint!

"Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this faithless and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Mark 8:34--9:1

When the 'whore of Babylon' arrived on American shores in the name of secularism, socialism, apathy, promiscuity, and the culture of death, one would have expected Catholics and Christians to unite as One Body and stand firm! But no, sad to say, a majority of 'Catholics,' really progressive Americans who forgot their baptism, became the strongest proponents of progressivism, even to the point of participating politically in persecuting Holy Mother Church. Non Catholics, so called Protestants, moreover, abandoned their Christian heritage and supported contraception, gay 'marriage,' and a gay clergy. Subsequently, America has been bathed in a sappy Christianity which really doesn't believe what it preaches--and, at best, practices it half-heartedly.

All of us share the blame. All of us must take responsibility...before it's too late.
