LiveWell Colorado's Get Movin' Challenge returns this May

You may remember last summer, when Governor Hickenlooper announced the launch of a fun and fabulous challenge to increase activity from LiveWell Colorado. Lots of you signed up, progress was tracked, prizes were won, and a whole load of successes were celebrated. Bring back good memories? Or maybe you missed it…either way, get excited: this may, LiveWell Colorado invites you to step up to a new Colorado Get Movin’ Challenge!

The Get Movin’ Challenge is a LiveWell Colorado statewide initiative to celebrate physical activity and work together to make Colorado the most active state in the nation. The Challenge encourages Coloradans to aim for 30 minutes or more of activity a day for 30 days in a row. You can simply sign up online (for free), track your progress, and be eligible to win prizes throughout the month! The goal of the Challenge is to encourage participants to be physically active and build healthy habits that will be sustained after the month has ended.

Longmont resident Linda Patryas found participation in last year’s Get Movin’ Challenge helped her to step up her fitness to a new level, achieving goals that had previously eluded her. “When I saw I was near the top of the Get Movin’ Challenge, I wanted to stay there,” she says. “I was really motivated.” Linda found new ways of working toward her fitness goals within the day. “Now, I feel energized all day,” she says.

New this year, LiveWell Colorado invites every city and town in the state to participate in new Get Movin’ Challenge “teams” for friendly challenges among municipalities. All Coloradans are welcome to take part in the Challenge at any participation level, as all minutes will be accumulated to showcase the state’s collective activity for May. Registration for the Challenge will begin in April. Stay up-to-date on the Challenge and how to join your city or town’s official team by “liking” LiveWell Colorado on Facebook.
