The Beatles Story in Liverpool has just announced a two month celebration of cultural events to honor the life and times of John Lennon, to mark his 70th birthday and 30 years since his death. Calling it the “John Lennon Tribute Season,” the events will begin on his birthday, October 9, and extend till December 9, the day after the anniversary of his death.
To quote from the press release, “Organizations in Liverpool will join forces to host a series of live music, film, poetry and art events.”
Events will include “Lennon Remembered”, a major tribute concert at Echo Arena, a birthday celebration at the Cavern Club, and many more events such as poetry competitions and art exhibits. The White Feather Exhibit will also still be open.
Jerry Goldman, Managing Director of the Beatles Story mentions that this is a “big year for Beatles fans” as it’s been 50 years since the Beatles formed, 40 since they split up, it’s John Lennon’s 70th birthday and 30 since he died.

Good to know about this years celebrations. Thank Shelley. By the way will you be able to attend any of the events or celebrations? I hope you get to attend.
I think it's obvious now to anyone paying attention that John Lennon will always be celebrated and remembered somewhere on the planet. This is a good thing. There are those poor unfortunate souls who love to pick at John's bones and say he wasn't perfect. I think the thing that astounds them is the fact that this doesn't diminish the love his fellow human beings still have for him. He might not have been a perfect person but he was a good soul. He didn't always succeed but he did always try to keep growing and learning and creating. The Beatles music is now a part of the human story all over the planet.
