Livermore’s Casie Cathrea named Golf Week magazine Player of the Week

Casie Cathrea, 17, of Livermore has been named Golf Week magazine’s female Player of the Week in the wake of her recent win in the San Diego Junior Amateur Championship.

The victory, her third in the tournament, came last weekend at Sycuan Golf and Tennis Resort in El Cajon, CA. Cathrea, a high school senior who will play college golf for the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls next year, trailed first-round leader Jong Ri, of China, by four strokes, 74 – 70, after the first day of the tournament. A second-round 73 and a closing round of 70, against scores of 77 and 78 by Jong Ri, cemented Cathrea’s victory – a six-stroke margin.
