Chevrolet Volt vehicle line director Tony Posawatz and marketing director Tony DiSalle will be participating in a live webchat today at 4pm EDT to discuss the latest news about the new car's battery pack. With regular production of the Volt scheduled to begin this fall, General Motors is preparing to ramp up full production of the battery packs at its Brownstown, MI factory.
For the past three years General Motor has been testing prototype battery packs for the Volt around the clock at its labs in Warren, MI and Mainz-Kastel, Germany as well as in prototype vehicles. The packs have been cycling in thermal chambers and test tracks ranging from Kapuskasing, Ontario to Yuma, Arizona in the hopes of proving that they will last the life of the vehicle.
Posawatz and DiSalle will be answering questions about the batteries and a related consumer announcement. Readers can participate in the chat using the box here on the site.
