Despite numerous denials from various sources, Kim Kardashian herself has confirmed the news: She -- and boyfriend Kanye West -- are expecting a child. The denials came from multiple sources, and so did the confirmations.
First, Kanye West himself spilled the beans on Sunday night. Onstage Sunday night in Atlantic City (embedded video below), he sang, "God brought us a whole new plan, baby. 'Cause now you're having my baby."
As Kanye transitioned into the next song, he asked the crowd, "Can we make some noise for my baby mama [Kim Kardashian, obviously] right quick?"
Shortly after West's announcement, Kourtney Kardashian tweeted, "Been wanting to shout from the rooftops with joy and now I can."
Khloe Kardashian also tweeted, "Keeping secrets is hard with so many family members! Especially when you are so freaking excited!!!"
Kris Jenner tweeted simply: "Im a happy girl !!!!!!!!! Wowza!"
Kylie Jenner tweeted: "Congrats to this beautiful couple. I love you guys 👶 http://instagr.am/p/T5KnClnGoO/." She also tweeted the first image above, in the slideshow.
Meanwhile, Kim herself waited until New Year's Eve day to chime in. On her own website she posted:
It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo
Sources say Kim Kardashian is 12 weeks pregnant, which is typically when most doctors say it's safe to announce the news. Apparently, as seen in the tweets above, several members of the clan have been in on the secret.
It's interesting that the truth is now out, as the denials were strong and strident. One insider made the following statement: “If Kim was pregnant, I would know because Kris [Jenner] would announce it to the world. I know she wasn’t feeling well on Christmas," adding "I do know that Kim wants to be a mom, but she first wants to get married or at least engaged."
There is no news about an engagement, and certainly none about a wedding, so the question is: Is the couple secretly engaged or are they planning a shotgun wedding before the baby's birth? Time will tell, and there is still plenty of it.
