Safe, on his father's arm (Photo by Eric Forsythe)
Safe, on his father's arm. He faces every moment a future before him. He'll likely grow from child to adolescent to adult. No child is conceived without a father and a mother. No child is created without God.
v3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward (Psalm 127:3 NKJ).
Every child receives a body with a brain, a heart, lungs, and “2000 parts,” although it may not be perfect. He can learn to run and play, to eat or sit or sleep or work or laugh or cry. Science has discovered, one cell in his body contains more bits of information than an encyclopedia.
v13 For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them (Palm 139:13-16).
Every child receives a soul with an intellect to guide him or her. He has an inner free will. He can choose between good and evil. He can think and reflect and decide. Likely, he can communicate his needs. He can discover and learn. He can create and destroy. He can love or hate.
v27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself’”(Luke 10:27).
Every child receives a spirit. He can know, love, and serve God, or even choose not to. He can pray or worship and believe in faith, or he is free to rebel and sin. He can live a life blessed or cursed. He can walk in the natural or the supernatural. He can experience the mundane or the miraculous. He will know sadness, pain, loneliness, fear, excitement, joy, victory, or glory.
He may or may not reside in a supporting family or know caring relatives. He will likely share a neighborhood, a town, a city, a country, and the world wide community of mankind.
v20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev. 3:20-22).
Someday, he will die. The ultimate choice of his life is to live by deceit or by truth to find God. The result is eternal life or death, heaven or hell. More than 150,000 individuals die every day. Each one lives the gift of life and makes the ultimate choice.
