I was playing poker on the electronic tables at Hoosier Park Casino, and wondered if anyone had a preference for playing poker online, or in a live Casino.
Personally, it kind of depends. If I'm looking to make some fairly decent money, I'll travel to a local casino (closest one to me is Hoosier Park Racing & Casino) I find it's easier to make money in an actual casino for a couple reasons:
1. People playing at casinos are, in most circumstances, looking to blow through discretionary income rather than to make money.
2. I can focus more on the poker game being in a physical location rather than online
3. I can read people better in a physical setting as opposed to online games
However, I would say that if you are looking for that one-in-a-million cash thats in the 5 or 6 figures, than your only choice locally would be online. I've played in tournaments online where 1st place receives over $1 million; I've yet to find a local casino to offer that size of a prize pool, let alone an actual places amount.
I feel that online poker can help a poker player learn the game better, for example, how to determine pot odds and implied odds. It helped me understand the betting structure better (which is something you have to get use to in a physical setting if you play a lot of online poker).
