Through it’s website,
LiveNation.com, ticket seller/promoter Live Nation is extending its “No Service Fee” promotion through tomorrow, Weds. June 10. Last week’s “No Service Fee Wednesday” generated a 500% increase in ticket sales compared to what are normally sold on a Weds.
While it seems that the initial concept of the promotion is simply to sell more in tough economic times, some are speculating that the company is sending a message to the music industry about how ridiculously high ticket prices have soared and how strongly customers feel about hidden fees in their ticket purchases. “Our job is to get as many fans to the show . . . to see their favorite artists,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said in a recent press release.
Tickets for this week’s installment of No Service Fee Wednesday go on sale at 12:01 a.m. local time. Live Nation promises more promotions like these in the future and can only boad well for fans of live music.
