This weekend's live music acts in New York range from late legend tributes to smaller and more intimate alt and folk rock sets. Whatever these acts are playing matters less -- they all have one thing in common, and it's that they take place in warm, dry concert halls that are hopefully safe from the unavoidable, never-draining slush puddles outside.

Friday Feb. 7

The Spin Doctors headline the NYC FAB50 series, proceeding a slew of Beatles tribute bands. Admission is $50. More info

Another homage, the Losers' Lounge Tribute to Lou Reed will take place downtown at Joe's Pub in Greenwich Village. This is the tribute's second of three showings this week. Admission is $25. More info

In Greenpoint, the Massachussetts indie rockers Speedy Ortiz will play the BK Night Bazaar in support of the band's new EP, Real Hair. The much buzzed-about release dons sweet lady vocals that charm fun, shredding guitars and catchy melodies. Admisson is free. More info

Well-known as an top notch live act, Mission of Burma is a favorite of many post punk fans. The band plays The Bell House Friday night. Admission is $25. More info

Saturday Feb. 8

The Arctic Monkeys will bring a big Brit rock show to MSG. Indie pop rock group Deer Hunter will play some of their soft and dreamy tunes a in lighter fare opening act. Admission starts at $30. More info

Across the river, guitar-strumming, ho-humming folk darling Marissa Nadler will play at Glasslands. Admission is $12. More info

The Screaming Females will play a much louder fem rock set just a few blocks over at Music Hall of Williamsburg, as the band bills Don Giovanni Records' showcase. Admission starts at $14. More info

Sunday Feb. 9

Cerebral Ballzy, originally of Brooklyn will play a punk set at the Gramercy Theatre Sunday night. Admission is $14 before fees. More info
