This past Friday, local indie-rock band, Quiet Company taped the first Satellite Sets web series concert for Austin City Limits TV at KLRU studios on the University of Texas campus. As big fans of the band, Examiner was pleased when we learned the up and coming group had been chosen first. It was a big honor Taylor Muse and his band members turned into a spectacular performance in front of a few hundred lucky audience members.
Muse seemed comfortable with the huge televisions cameras swinging around the set in front of him while he banged away on a grand piano instead of his usual keyboard set-up. At the outset, one of KLRU's cameramen had to wave his arms wildly to get Muse's attention to stop singing until he and the rest of the crew were ready to roll tape. The singer laughed at his own gaffe and remarked, "how do I know when to start then?"
The laughter that spilled from the audience appeared to wash away the last bit of preshow tension and Quiet Company embarked on a memorable set. Ending the show with the current local radio hit, "How Do You Do It?" and their standard show finale, "On Modern Men" complete with a good portion of the audience members on stage with the band, singing chorus. The show was all Quiet Company in tone and they fit nicely into the television set arena. Again, proving what professionals they are like they did the first time we saw the band at Emo's.
Quiet Company are scheduled to appear on Monday at the Independent at 501 Studios for The Heist show during Austin Fashion Week with The Soldier Thread and L.A.X. Dean Frederick, Tito's Vodka and Frank are sponsoring the free event. Check out photos from the taping and a short video below.
