March was an emotional month for the Austin music community. A drunk driver fled Austin Police and mowed down four people near The Mohawk during SXSW. A positive result of the SXSW crash was The Mohawk, SXSW and Austin Community Foundation quickly organized SXSW Cares to benefit individuals and families affected by the accident. The tragic event also spawned a number of live music performances that benefitted SXSW Cares including tomorrow's Red Bull Sound Select show featuring ACL Festival veterans, The Eastern Sea at Empire Control Room.

Joining the indie rockers and their effusive leader, Matt Hines on the bill are two notable Austin bands, Lord Buffalo and The Sour Notes. The bands selected for this month's Sound Select show represent different styles of music which means fans will get to enjoy a variety of up and coming local acts at a nice venue that has gotten a facelift and expanded in size in the past year.

This will be the first full performance in Austin by The Eastern Sea this year. Currently there are no more scheduled Austin dates on their calendar and the band hits the road on national tour next month so if you want to see them this is your opportunity. Word is the band will be playing new material yet to be released. With ticket prices only $3 if you RSVP, the show is affordable and a great opportunity to check out three talented, young Austin bands in a single night while supporting a worthy cause.

Folk-psych act, Lord Buffalo and the synth-based The Sour Notes round out the bill nicely. Both have previously played Sound Select shows that were among the better performances during last year's Red Bull Series. The Sour Notes new album just went on sale May 10 at Waterloo Records. Fans can pick up the album at the Sound Select listening station inside the store.

Because of the tremendous success the program has experienced in Austin, Red Bull Sound Select has returned in 2014 with 12 shows, one each month throughout the year. The program has also expanded to 12 cities, both national and international, and will be part of 25 festivals nationwide.

The Red Bull Sound Select artists performing Tuesday will donate all door proceeds to the SXSW Cares Fund to benefit the victims of the Red River tragedy on March 13, 2014. Austin Community Foundation will disburse funds donated to the SXSW Cares Fund to those most affected for expenses not covered by other sources.
