By the time all the frozen water disappears from Austin's roadways and temperatures return to normal, local bands Quiet Company and Fastball will be gearing up to take the stage at The Mohawk in the heart of the Red River entertainment district Thursday evening. Why these bands never teamed up before we do not know. They are a perfect pairing. Both bands feature talented songwriters. Tony Scalzo of Fastball penned their seminal hit, "The Way" and Taylor Glenn Muse is the lead singer/songwriter of Quiet Company. Both men write pop melodies with a aTexas edge. Some call it powerpop. We simply call it great music.
Scalzo has been writing songs for quite some time and stumbled upon a hit when he penned Fastball's greatest hit, "The Way" off their 1998 platinum album, "All the Pain Money Can Buy." The album was the Austin Chronicle's 1998 album of the year. Fastball has continued making music since then with forays into Nashville songwriting, collaborations with other Texas artists and most recently, 2009's "Little White Lies" which is quite a good album.
Quiet Company is an Austin band on the rise. 2010's, "Songs for Staying In" has been in heavy rotation on 101X, KUT and other local Austin radio stations. "Songs For Staying In" tracks have been featured on television programs such as My Generation, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Real World, and Married To Rock. Quiet Company had a walk on role on ABC's My Generation, but the show was, unfortunately, cancelled before their episode was aired.
It will be a special night of music Thursday evening. Music fans will be itching to get out after being forced to stay at home due to the freeze Wednesday morning in Austin. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 the day of the show. Doors open at 7:00p.m. Tickets may be purchased here.

Ah sorry Greg - too much invalid weather info and The Mohawk is away too chilly.
Mr. Weatherman,
Thanks for your input. This is your forecast. Not too shabby:
