Sunday, classical piano stylist, Reuel Meditz is slated to perform at a straw poll event organized by the Travis County Republican Party in Lago Vista. The 23-year old Reuel plays an improvisational style that allows the performer to compose pieces while playing. The event will feature a candidate forum for the newly created 25th Congressional District in addition to Reuel's unique piano music. The musician uses his improvisational skills to write film scores when his is not performing.
Recently the Statesman's Michael Barnes profiled the composer who has this to say about his writing process,
"I create pieces on the fly as if dreaming," he says. "I can tap into that subconscious state while playing, like a lucid musical dream."...."Like Danny Elfman, I improvise as I watch the movie, then score it,"
Reuel has studied composition at the pretigious Berklee School of Music in Boston and trained under Victor Bunin at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia. He also studied for seven years with Dr. Julia Kruger winning numerous piano competitions and performed at Carnegie Hall three times. He has five albums on iTunes made with harpist, Merry Miller.
Sunday's straw poll will take place at the K-Oaks Clubhouse in Lago Vista, beginning at 3:00 PM (VIP reception begins at 2:30 PM). More details can be found at the TCRP website.
