Live music and fresh powder mark end of season at Copper Mountain

The snow is deep, the sun is bright, and there’s no better way to celebrate springtime than at Copper Mountain's original end of the season party, Copper Sunsation.  Copper Sunsation kicks off its 10th year with free, live music on two consecutive weekends, April 10-11 and April 16-18, sponsored by Coors Light, Vitamin Water, Snickers, Jägermeister, KSMT and Westword.

Sunsation Weekend 1, April 10-11
Weekend 1 includes headliners Lotus and Pepper, as well as Passafire, Rey Fresco, These United States, and The Expendables - all set to appear April 10-11. Also this weekend, Copper is hosting the 2010 Alt Games College Snowboarding and Freeskiing Open Championships in Catalyst Terrain Park on April 10.  Room rates start at $59 per person, per night (restrictions apply).

This year, Copper is bringing back its popular Sunsation Sessions – an exclusive evening performance highlighting great musical talent. The Sunsation Sessions, hosted in an intimate setting, takes place on Saturday, April 10, starting at 8 p.m., with live music by Lotus and DJ Rootz. The Sunsation Session performance is a ticketed event in the Bighorn Room of the Copper Conference Center. Tickets are on sale now for $20 and are available online, by calling 866-677-1662, or on-site at any Copper ticket window or Guest Services location.

In addition to the great music, you can also witness some great competition at the 2010 Alt Games College Snowboarding and Freeskiing Open Championships, Saturday, April 10 in Catalyst Terrain Park. This year’s event will feature some of the country's best college athletes, with a $7,000 prize pool. If you are currently enrolled in at least 2 college courses, and would like to register for this event, please send an email to thealtgames_snow@gohighline.com. The Alt Games are tentatively scheduled to air on The CBS College Sports Network on April 22 & April 25 at 8 p.m. EDT. Event coverage will also be included in the one-hour Highlight Show airing on CBS Sports on Saturday, June 19 at 5 p.m. EDT.

Sunsation Weekend 2, April 16-18 
Weekend 2 headliners include Steel Pulse, Perpetual Groove and Los Lonely Boys, in addition to BC/DC, Pato Banton & The Now Generation, and The White Buffalo.

In conjunction with the final weekend of Sunsation, teams of outrageous skiers channeling their inner 70s groove and retro ski skills will unite at Copper for the Finals of the Red Bull 1976 Games, April 16 and 17. The Red Bull 1976 Games brings the games back to Colorado and finally "give the year 1976 its day"…or two. Competitions include Snowbladecross & Old School Air, plus an award for most outrageous costume and team mojo. So grow (or stick on) those mustaches, squeeze into your one-piece and get ready to party like it's 1976!
