Live from the Creative Emmy Awards: The Beatles special wins Music Direction

The 66th Emmy Awards are taking place this weekend and next week. The Creative Awards are being held today, August 16 and the PrimeTime Emmy Awards will take place on Monday, August 25th. Both ceremonies are taking place at the Nokia Theatre at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.

Game of Thrones" earned the most nominations when the 2014 Emmy nominees were announced. The HBO show received 19 nominations, including one in the coveted drama series category.

The other drama series nominees were "Breaking Bad," "Downton Abbey," "House of Cards," "Mad Men" and "True Detective."
The Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards are announcing the majority of the behind the scenes and the technical work for television production. Categories include art direction, cinematography, hairstyling, makeup, music, picture editing, sound editing and mixing, special visual effects, stunts and more.

Awards are also handed out for commercials, animation, reality series and other programming, as well as some acting categories and special honors.

In the music-related categories, the award for Music Direction was just announced. The nominees were:

"Barbra Streisand: Back to Brooklyn"
"The Beatles: The Night That Changed America"
"The Oscars"
"Saturday Night Live"
"The Sound Of Music Live!"
"67th Tony Awards"

The winner was The Beatles: The Night That Changed America" special for Don Was who was the Music Director for the special. Don Was was on hand to accept his award. He thanked The Beatles, Ken Ehrlich and all of the musicians who worked on the special.
