Live from Hammond Stadium: Boesch scratched for Yankees

Add Brennan Boesch to the growing list of injuries for the New York Yankees.

The newly-acquired outfielder did male Friday's trip to Fort Myers, but was scratched before batting practice began. A New York Yankees spokesman noted that Boesch had come down with a "stiff left ribcage." Unfortunately, I was not able to get a chance to talk to Joe Girardi regarding the injury prior to the game, but I did overhear him tell Tony Pena to make the change on the lineup card, and he did not appear overly concerned.

Without Boesch, Girardi made a few changes to today's lineup. Thomas Neal, who was originally slated to serve as the designated hitter, has moved to right field. Robinson Cano has shifted from second base into the designated hitter's spot, while Corban Joseph gets a start at second base.

Hughes, Kuroda pitching in minors

Phil Hughes and Hiroki Kuroda are slated to pitch in minor league games on Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates at the New York Yankees' minor league complex. Most of the press corps stayed behind to see him pitch, so I will have more updates regarding Hughes later on.
