Kathryn Kluz, floor: Full in tuck.

Sachi Sugiyama, vault: Yurchenko 1.5 with a small step forward. Saluted the judges very quickly afterward with a smile. I'll bet she's happy with that.

Stefani Catour, bars: Toe on Tkatchev (I think(, full turn to bail. Stuck double layout.

Alexandra McMurtry, beam: Front somie. 2.5 twist dismount. A very capable gymnast, she is.

Miya Dotson, floor: Pounding music. Lovely double pike, step back. Front handspring, front layout, front pike. A very nice dancer, too -- expressive movement and a lot of grace.

Alyssa Nocella, vault: FTY?

Rachel Spicer, bars: Taktchev. Full tunr to bail to toe sole circle to high. Stuck full twisting double tuck.

Jennie Laeng, beam: Unique dismount -- running Gainer pike off the end with a full twist. That is hard to do!

Grace Williams, floor: Irish step music, same routine as last year. Oh, nice double Arabian, stuck. Double pike, good landing. I think she wants to win! Tourjete half. 1.5 to front layout. Double turn. Double tuck, Nearly stuck. Big smile and high fives and hugs frm her coaches off the podium.

Becky Tutka, vault: Lowish FTY. The judges thought so too -- 8.55.

Kelsey Lawless, bars: Hop change to half turn to bail to toe hecht to high, giants, Arabian double tuck with a step.

Kaitlyn Hall, beam:  Didn't see it.

Michaela Woodford, floor: Double pike. The Matrix is her music. Front layout, front layout full. 2.5 to end.

Annette Miele, vault: Yurchenko 1.5. Again, a bit low and off to the side.

Jordan Naleway, bars: Toe on Shaposhnikova, takes an extra swing on high bar and jumps off. Seems to be discussing something with her coach. Gets back up, completes routine but I think she took some things out...double tuck dismount. 7.55.

Maile'ana Kanewa, beam: Bhs, layout. Straddle 3/4. Side aerial. Didn't see the dismount.

Georgia Dabritz, floor: 1.5 to double pike, step back. Double Arabian, too much power and stumbles out of it, putting her hands down. Switch ring to switch side half to one knee -- a cool variation of that skill. Music sounds very...tribal. Soft and intense and nature-y. Triple full, takes a couple steps to the side. Well, she went for hard stuff. And she does gymnastics very well. But it didn't quite work out for her here tonight. Still, a gymnast who is very pleasant to watch.

Lauren Marinez, vault: Didn't see her go...wondering if she scratched.

Mary Jane Horth, bars: Toe hecht to high, full turn, pause in handstand, Geinger. Bail, stoop on. Full turn to double tuck.

Alyssa Jackson, beam: Bhs, layout to two feet. Side aerial. Didn't see the rest.

Megan Jimenez, floor: Double tuck. Second pass ended in a front pike. Tourjete half. 1.5 to roundoff, double full. 2.5 to end. Nice routine.

Tory Wilson, vault: FTY with a hop back. Same second vault.

Kassandra Lopez, bars: Full to Tkatchev. Bail to squat on, giants, double layout, nearly stuck. 9.5.

Mary Kaitlyn Bailey, beam: Bhs, layout, small wobble. Switch, beat jump. Split, tuck jump full. Bigger wobble late in routine but she stayed on. Double full to end.

Kiersten Wang, floor: Double pike to end.

Mackenzie Brannan, vault: Nice Yurchenko 1.5. A little bit of leg form at the very end, but just a teeny hop on landing.

Caitlin Mann, bars: Jump to high, full turn to in bar Geinger. Bail. Giants to double layout.

Maggie Nichols, beam: 9.175, didn't see the routine.

Kayla Williams, floor: A huge double layout, slightly underrotated, small hop forward. 1.5 to 1.5 tofront layout, unique pass. Arabian music. Switch side half to straddle full. Side somie. Tourjete full. Kayla has made huge strides in her dance and presentation under Mary Lee Tracy. This was a fun and expressive routine, very well put together. Double pike, stuck cold -- just like old times.

Ashley Lambert, vault: Didn't see it.

Alina Cartwright, bars: Geinger. Bail to toe stalder to toe hecht to high. Double tuck.

Asi Peko, beam: Didn't see it.

Amelia Hundley, floor: Full in pike, a little messy on landing. 1.5 to front layout full. Switch, Tourjete half. 2.5 to front layout. Really gets into her dance -- how fun! Seems to genuinely enjoy performing -- actually, most of these girls do. Double tuck, stuck! Fun, energetic routine to close out the 2011 Supergirl Cup.

Rotation three:

Caitlin Mann, vault: Very nice FTY, smallest of hops.

Maggie Nichols, bars: Jaeger. Tklatchev. Double layout. Hit routine.

Kayla Williams, beam: Full turn. Roundoff, 1.5 dismount.

Mackenzie Brannan, floor: Nice Arabian double front. 1.5 to double full. 2.5 to double stag jump.

Alina Cartwright, vault: FTY.

Asi Peko, bars: Jump to high, Hindofrr. Bail to toe hecht to high, full twisting double layout to her kneees. 9.025.

Amelia Hundley, beam: Side aerial. Switch, scissone. Front aerial. Bhs, layout, small check but OK. Punch front. Switch side. Bhs, bhs, to 2.5 twist.

Ashley Lambert, floor: Stuck double layout, great. OOB on second pass. Roundoff, straddle jump. Double turn. Double pike to end. Powerful tumbling, too bad about the second pass.

Mykayla Skinner, vault: DTY. But she landed an Amanar in warmup....Second vault will be interesting: Amanar! Well done. Step to the side. But well done.

Brittney Sooksengdao, bars: 8.525.

Kathryn Kluz, beam: Didn't see it.

Lisa Burt, floor: Didn't see it.

Stefani Catour, vault: FTY, step back.

Alexandra McMurtry, bars: Fall on Jaeger. This is not her night. Stuck full twisting double tuck.

Miya Dotson, beam: Didn't see it.

Sachi Sugiyama, floor: Big step forward on double pike to end.

Rachel Spicer, vault: Very nice Yurchenko 1.5. Same second vault, small step to the side and back. 9.4.

Jennie Laeng, bars: Comes off on a Jaeger. Looks angry with herself.

Grace Williams, beam: Punch front, solid. Bhs, layout, layout -- oooh. Nicely done. Switch half, steps back but not a big problem. Switch, scissone. Side aerial. Double pike with a step back. She's coming along quite well also...like Hundley, a ton of improvement in six months.

Alyssa Nocella, floor: Oh, I like her choreo; it's very to-the-music. Powerful double pike to open. Front handspring, front layout, front layout full, nearly sits down, has to break form not to; 1.5 to front pike to end.

Kelsey Lawless, vault: Sits down Yurchenko half. Had problems with it in warmups too.

Kaitlyn Hall, bars: Blind to pike Jaeger. Full to  giant to bail. Stoop on, giants, full in tuck dismount. 8.9.

Michaela Woodford, beam: Bhs, layout, wobble and leg comes up, but saves it. Believe she did not fall throughout the rest.

Becky Tutka, floor: Full in pike to open, double pike to close. Her style is influenced by her gym, which is the Parkettes.

Jordan Naleway, vault: Yurchenko layout.

Maile'ana Kanewa, bars: Tkatchev. Bail (legs apart) to toe hecht. Blind to double front, looked a bit underrotated (she rotates slowly) but she stuck it! Very impressed with her gymnastics. She looks quite happy.

Georgia Dabritz, beam: Bhs, layout, solid. Popa (straddle full). Side aerial, falls.

Annette Miele, floor: Tourjete full. 1.5 to front layout middle pass. Music has an Arab, driving beat. Very interesting piece. Double pike, no problem.

Mary Jane Horth, vault: FTY.

Alyssa Jackson, bars: Blind to Jaeger pike. Bail. Full twisting double tuck with a step back.

Megan Jimenez, beam: Jumps. Tourjete half, well done. Switch, back pike. Really nice lines and toepoint. 2.5 twist.

Lauren Marinez, floor: Missed on her first pass and landed on her knees (I think it was supposed to be a front layout to Rudi or front double full) and stopped for a second. I thought her ankle might be hurt. But got back up and continued. 2.5 twist. Double tuck, again a strange landing that looks like it might hurt the ankles. She's had errors tonight, but she's a wonderfully expressive gymnast and has excellent form. One to watch for sure.

Kassandra Lopez, vault: FTY with a hop back.

Mary Kaitlyn Bailey, bars: Missed Tkatchev.

Kiersten Wang, beam: Cartwheel, Gainer full dismount.

Tory Wilson, floor: Double layout. Music is a cut of "Jai Ho!" from "Slumdog Millionaire." Double pike, bounces out and almost has to put her hands down.

Rotation two:

Alyssa Jackson, vault: FTY with a step back.

Megan Jimenez, bars: Hit routine, didn't see anything except a straddle back from a front giant.

Lauren Marinez, beam: Front aerial, bhs, layout, comes off. Lovely work. Very nice double tuck dismount, small hop forward. I love her style -- she's one to watch for sure.

Mary Jane Horth, floor: Double tuck. Horth wears a back stabilizer, which looks like a thick white band around her leo. Sits down front double full.

Mary Kathryn Bailey, vault: Two nice Yurchenko halves, very good position in the air, small step on the landings.

Kiersten Wang, bars: I'm pretty sure Wang didn't compete on bars...Williams is prepping...strange. Maybe I missed it...

Tory Wilson, beam: Hit routine I believe.

Kassandra Lopez, floor: Full in tucked, step forward. Cat leap double. Music with a very Spanish/southwest feel. 1.5 to front layout. Double turn, nice.

Maggie Nichols, vault: Stuck Yurchenko 1.5 but some knees in the air. Great landing though. Same second vault with small step forward.

Kayla Williams, bars: Jump to high, toe stalder to Pak, nice, small hesitation on half turn, toe hecht to high, full to Tkatchev, giants, double layout, one step back. Nice routine. Especially nice Pak.

Mackenzie Brannan, beam: Switch, back tuck, solid. Has an agonizing, five second fight to save her punch front but can't and comes off. Nice high roundoff double back with small hop.

Caitlin Mann, floor: Didn't see it.

Asi Peko, vault: Nearly stuck Yurchenko 1.5, very very good. Same vault with a small step forward.

Amelia Hundley, bars: Jaeger. Pak, good. toe hecht to high. Stuck full in tuck. Very big smile. Big hug from MLT as she comes off the podium, well deserved. So much improved since last year. 9.75.

Ashley Lambert, beam: Swing through mount. Full turn.

Alina Cartwright, floor: Big, dramatic music for this Legacy Elite gymnast. Nice double pike to open, stuck. 1.5 to front pike.

Brittney Sooksengdao, vault:  Two Yurchenko layouts. Not particuarly powerful.

Kathryn Kluz, bars: Didn't see it.

Lisa Burt, beam: Double full with a step back.

Mykayla Skinner, floor: New routine for her, a tango. Terrific double double tuck, great job. 1.5 to 2.5, step forward. Switch, switch half. Double turn. Rudi. Full in tucked. This girl can tumble!

Alexandra McMurtry, vault: Wonderful airy FTY. Beautiful stuff.

Miya Dotson, bars: Clear hip to Geinger, blind to overshoot to toe hecht. Clean double tuck, stuck.

Sachi Sugiyama, beam: Off on back layout stepout. Double full, step back.

Stefani Catour, floor: Full in pike, too much power and OOB, I believe.  Rudi.

Jennie Laeng, vault: FTY.

Grace Williams, bars: Hit routine with full in tuck dismount, nearly stuck. Very nice gymnastics.

Alyssa Nocella, beam: Punch front mount to immediate pike jump. Bhs, layout, back leg badly bent. Roundoff, 1.5 with a step forward.

Rachel Spicer, floor: Powerful, driviing music. Nice full in pike to open. Great tumbling throughout.

Kaitlyn Hall, vault: FTY, has to pike to get the twist around. 8.85. Same seocnd vault.

Michaela Woodford, bars: Stoop on, full to Geinger. Bail to toe hecht to high. Nice high tuck full out dismount.

Becky Tutka, beam: Switch, back tuck. Bhs, layout. Full turn. Side aerial. Split, straddle. Stuck double tuck. Very nice routine.

Kelsey Lawless, floor: Double tuck, step back. Sits down 1.5 to punch front to end. Wasn't sure where she was coming out of the 1.5.

Maile'ana Kanewa, vault: Stuck FTY. Nice job. And did it again on the second vault.

Georgia Dabritz, bars: Toe hecht to high, Comaneci. Blind to Jager. Bail, clear hip, toe hecht to high. Stuck full twisting double tuck. Great job. Georgia's gymnastics is just so clean.

Annette Miele, beam: Didn't see it.

Jordan Naleway, floor: Double tuck to open. Playful music, understated but good. Awkward bounce out landing on second pass.

Rotation one:

Fun fact: Chelle Stack, Muriel Grossfeld and Tammy Biggs are among the judges here.

Michaela Woodford, vault: FTY. Better FTY.

Becky Tutka, bars: Tkatchev. Fall didn't see on what.

Kelsey Lawless, beam: Bhs, layout.

Kaitlyn Hall, floor: Switch half. 1.5 to 2.5. Stepped out before first pass. Fights hard to save the front layout, front layout full last pass, several steps forward (underrrotated).

Georgia Dabritz, vault: Yurchenko 1.5, nearly stuck. Same second vault, slightly underrotated.

Annette Miele, bars: Jump to high, full turn. Release. Bail to low, Ray, double layout with a step. Hit routine.

Jordan Naleway, beam: Side aerial. Didn't see rest.

Maile'ana Kanewa, floor: Very classical ballet piece of music, for orchaestra. Full in pike. Front to double pike. Lovely presentation and choreo! Rudi. Really playing to the judges.

Megan Jiminez, vault: Really nice FTY.

Lauren Marinez, bars: Jump to high, to Hindorff. Bail to Ray, double layout, nearly stuck.

Mary Jane Horth, beam: Side aerial from interesting jump, a cat leap variant. Dismount: 1.5 twist.

Alyssa Jackson, floor: Powerful double pike. Powerful athlete, evident from her movements.

Kiersten Wang, vault: FTY with a step back. Same second vault.

Tory Wilson, bars: Mile high Tkatchev. full to bail to toe stalder, toe stalder hecht to high, full twisting double tuck, small hop.

Kassandra Lopez, beam: Long wait for her while TV cameras adjust...switch, straddle 1/4. Looks aggressive up there. Bhs, layout. Full turn, nice. No phasing her, she's been here before. Punch front, good. Split full. Great routine, just the dismount...double full with a small hop. Great routine.

Mary Kaitlyn Bailey, floor: Switch ring. Stuck Rudi to end.

Kayla Williams, vault: Yurchenko 1.5, slightly underrotated with a step back. Nice though. OH! Stuck the second one cold. My, my...

Caitlin Mann, beam: Sheep. Bhs, layout, small check. Switch side.

Maggie Nichols, floor: Very pretty opening pose...guitar piece, fast paced. Full in tuck. 2.5 to tucky front pike. Switch ring, Tourjete half. Wolf 1.5. Double pike to end. Some fun choreo in this routine.

Amelia Hundley, vault: FTY. Stuck the second one.

Ashley Lambert, bars: Shaposh to bail, toe hecht to high. 9.025.

Alina Cartwright, beam: One armed bhs, layout. Saves something...Punch front. Didn't see dismount.

Kathryn Kluz, vault: Nice Yurchenko 1.5.

Lisa Burt, bars: Full turn to missed Geinger. Double layout.

Mykayla Skinner, beam: Roll on mount. Full turn. Back tuck (or was it a full twist?). Jumps. Roundoff, double tuck.

Brittney Sookssengdao, floor: Double pike.

Miya Dotson, vault: Yurchenko half, a little incorrect in the air but she landed it, which is important, since she had a little trouble with it in warmup.

Sachi Sugiyama, bars: Toe hecht to high, clear hip to Geinger no problem. Pak, half turn, full twisting double tuck with a step ack.

Stefani Catour, beam: Switch side. Front tuck somie. Roundoff, 2.5 twist with a step forward.

Alexandra McMurtry, floor: Wonderful open tuck full in to start. Very athletic.

Grace Williams, vault: Yurchenko 1.5, small hop.

Alyssa Nocella, bars: Hit routine with Jaeger, among other things. Great running front layout full to immediate Rudi. And triple full to her knees to end! Too bad -- that was great until the last pass.

Rachel Spicer, beam: Bhs, layout. Small check on side aerial? Cat leap, switch side. Double full, looked stuck to me.

Jennie Laeng, floor: Pulled around her double pike to open but then just got a little lost trying to take a step back and ended up on her stomach somehow, out of bounds. Double full to end. Not a particularly powerful tumbler.

6:50 p.m.: The gymnasts have cleared the podium, and we're almost ready for march out. Things should be getting underway shortly...

Slightly awkward pause after the national anthem as Nastia does a live welcome for TV. Then the lights come up and all of a sudden it seems very bright in here. Is that also for TV, I wonder?

6:31 p.m.: Fashion note no. 2: One of the emerging trends in gymnastics hair may be the high, messy bun topped by a bow (think Cassidy McComb). I see it here on Kelsey Lawless and another gymnast whose number I can't see. It is particularly effective for gymnasts with curly hair.

6:24 p.m.: Young Lauren Marinez has some power, too. I just saw a Yurchenko timer, but the girl flew off the horse in a rather Kytra Hunter-like way.

5:50 p.m.: One of the big question marks about tonight's meet is whether Desert Lights's Mykayla Skinner will throw her Amanar in competition. I've heard that Skinner planned to try it, but had some difficulties with it during last night's podium training session and now it's more of a "maybe."

It's a bit funny to see so many gymnasts, all dressed alike, up on the podium of an event warming up. There's just so many of them!

5:54 p.m.: This is a meet that drives TV cameras crazy. The reason is because none of these gymansts are famous (yet) and they're all wearing the same thing. So when tech says "Quick! Follow the girl in the pink and black, with the ponytail and the pink scrunchie!" the rest of the crew begins swearing.

5:50 p.m.: Spotted during warmups:

-- A huge and beautiful double layout from someone on floor

-- A good triple full from another gymnast

-- Lots of good high double pikes

5:45 p.m.: Happy 16th birthday to Ashley Lambert! I'm sure she'd love the Supergirl Cup (actually, I'm not sure if there really is a cup) for her birthday.

5:36 p.m.: Fashion note: This year's Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup leos (designed by Nastia, of course) is the same bright pink as the warmup jacket, with one black sleeve and a kind of thick branch pattern that goes around the chest and back.

The design, modeled after one of Liukin's old leotards from Nationals, reminds me of Batman, somehow, just, you know, pink. It's rather Gotham City. The warmups are fairly Michael Jackson.

Seen so far: Nice double layout dismount from Grace Williams off bars. Williams is one of the few competitors to wear her hair in a neat and mature bun. Dabritz just stuck her full twisting double tuck off bars.

The other gymnasts in her group cheer Kayla Williams through her bar routine. It's a strong routine, with a good Tkatchev and a double layout that is rather piked at the beginning and she pops it out after the first flip. She sticks it, and gets a high five from Mary Lee Tracy.

5:10 p.m.: In trying to answer the question "Who's going to win the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup?" it would be helpful to discuss a few possible candidates from this field of 36: (Analysis below)

A few names spring out immediately: Jimenez, Catour, Hundley, Williams, Brannan, Marinez and Skinner competed at the Junior U.S. Championships last year; Dabritz competed in the senior division in 2009 and 2010, Miele was at the 2009 U.S. Championships and Kayla Williams is...well, Kayla Williams.

Otherwise, Lopez was second at last year's Nastia Liukin Cup (the 2010 Nastia Cup champion, Lexie Priessman, is now on the junior national team), and this is Kiersten Wang's second year here as well.

Skills-wise, it's also interesting. Williams was weak on bars as an elite, but she's marginally good as an level 10 -- at the very least, bars is unlikely to hurt her chances of winning the title. Williams also looked quite good at the qualifier for this competition. Certainly we all know about the 2009 World vault champion's abilities on that event and as a tumbler.

Mykayla Skinner, who landed an Amanar off the podium at a meet a few weeks ago, is also a name to watch. In addition to the Amanar, which she may throw tonight, Skinner has a double double tuck on floor and a standing full on beam.

Mackenzie Brannan won the junior division at the Nadia Comaneci Invite a few weeks ago and showed that she's maturing into a very steady gymnast.

Lauren Marinez is a capable young gymnast from Florida with great lines who is especially capable on uneven bars.

Amelia Hundley, under the tutelage of Mary Lee Tracy, continues to develop and show promise. She too was here last year, albeit in company with Priessman, her best friend and training partner.

Georgia Dabritz, who has committed to Utah (as has Lopez), is capable of big skills and very nice work. Her experience as an elite, on the podium and under pressure, should aid her here.

Kiersten Wang recorded one of the top qualifying scores of the 2009 Supergirl Cup series, but a fall on beam ended her chances of taking the Cup. Tonight, she has a second chance.

Grace Williams, here with coach John Geddert, looks calm and focused. Moreover, she also looks like she's having fun.

JACKSONVILLE, 4:58 p.m.: The general stretch is about to get underway at the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup, but for the moment the Supergirls are all clustered at one end of the floor in a field of bright, bright pink jackets. Pink touches are all around, from the electronic logos around the arena to the overhead screen. Even the red mats of the podium seem rosier around all this pink.

Ah, general stretch is announced, and everyone gets up and starts running around, moving their arms in circles. One of them is the next Nastia Liukin Supergirl champion...but which one?
