Little Willies debut in Billboard country top 10

The Little Willies have topped their previous record by debuting at No. 9 on the Billboard Country Album charts released Thursday morning.

Their self-titled debut album stopped at No. 10 in 2006.

The band's new effort, "For the Good Times," features the band's cover versions of 13 country classics:

  • I Worship You
  • Remember Me
  • Diesel Smoke, Dangerous Curves
  • Lovesick Blues
  • Tommy Rockwood
  • Fist City
  • Permanently Lonely
  • Foul Owl On The Prowl
  • Wide Open Road
  • For The Good Times
  • If You've Got The Money I've Got The Time
  • Jolene
  • Delia's Gone

Especially impressive are the band's renditions of "Lovesick Blues," "For the Good Times" and "Jolene."

The band consists of Norah Jones, Richard Julian, Jim Campilongo, Lee Alexander and Dan Rieser.

Jones, the multi-Grammy Award winning daughter of Ravi Shankar, proves again she is difficult to classify as a singer, handling country music with the expertise she shows on some of her best-known, jazz-flavored songs.

The Little Willies “first formed in 2003 as an excuse for the five friends to spend a night playing music together at The Living Room on New York's Lower East Side,” the bad says on its website, “but the gig proved too fun for both the musicians and audience for it to remain a one-off.”

The album can be downloaded for $7.99 on Amazon.com.

Rhapsody members can listen to all but the bonus track, "Delia's Gone."
