The Little Shop of Crafts offers many ways to get crafty on a budget. There are two locations in Manhattan where you can learn to bead, paint pottery, take water color classes and try your hand at mosaics.
The beading classes, taught by Marianne Olberman, offer a wide variety of skills for a great price. For $50 you receive a 90 minute class with step-by-step instructions and materials, however some classes do require you to purchase additional items to complete your project. Classes offered include Jewelry 101, Peyote beading and crocheting with wire. For examples of the fabulous beaded pieces you can learn to create please see the slide show below.
Little Shop also offers paint your own pottery. You pick your piece, paint it and then have it fired in a kiln for a glossy finish and it's ready to pick up within the next week. The cost varies depending on what you decide to paint but there is no cost for time so you can stay as long as you like decorating your work of art. Want even more bang for your buck? Both locations serve complimentary wine from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Make a night of it and take a date!
Have kids? Birthday parties are a big hit at Little Shop. There are several packages to choose from that include crafts for the children, food and cake and the on site staff does all the work! There are other offerings for children including after school programs and summer art camps as well. You can also organize adult parties, everything from bridal showers to corporate functions. Put a little art into your next get together!
