On Oct. 15, 2013, Little Mix, the winner of "The X Factor" U.K. in 2011, unveiled the cover of the group's second album, "Salute." The album is set for release in the UK. and Ireland on Nov. 11, 2013. The album's first single, "Move," is set for release on Nov. 3, 2013.
Meanwhile, Little Mix is on the cover of the Bliss magazine issue that went on sale on Oct. 17, 2013. In the accompanying interview, the group talks about recording "Salute" and the engagement of Perrie Edwards of Little Mix to Zayn Malik of One Direction. Malik and Edwards (who are both 20) began dating in April 2012 and got engaged on Aug. 18, 2013. The engagement was made public when Edwards sported her engagement ring at the world premiere of "One Direction: This Is Us" in London on Aug. 20, 2013. A wedding date has not yet been set.
In the Bliss magazine interview, Edwards commented on her relationship with Malik: "We’re just so happy right now. I’m on cloud nine and so is he."
As for her engagement being revealed at the One Direction movie premiere, Edwards said, "To be honest, I didn’t even think about it. I was going to an event, getting ready with the girls, excited to see him. I get scared at red carpets in case I fall over and I didn’t want to do that with the ring. But luckily I didn’t embarrass meself!”
Jade Thirlwall of Little Mix said, "Literally she got proposed to on Sunday, we were back at work on Monday and it was the first thing she said!"
Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix added, "When she told me I was verging on tears! Yeah I am such a baby! We’re so happy for her."
One Direction (which came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010) and Little Mix were each formed on "The X Factor" U.K. in the same way: The show formed each group by putting together contestants who originally auditioned as solo singers. Little Mix and One Direction are both represented by Modest! Management and signed to Syco Music, the record company that is co-owned by Simon Cowell and Sony Music.
Jesy Nelson of Little Mix commented on the "Salute" album: "We mostly recorded it over here [in the U.K.], but we did some in America which was quite fun, in Will Smith’s studio. Unfortunately we didn’t meet him. It was quite fun but annoying as it was really, really sunny in L.A. and we were stuck in the studio!"
Little Mix's first album, "DNA," was a Top 10 hit in several countries.
