On Thursday, a Little League World Series 2013 live stream and TV game will feature two teams attempting to claw their way into the U.S. Championship game despite recent losses. It will be the team of stars from Sammamish, Wash. taking on those from Westport, Conn. with redemption on the line. Tonight's game will be on 2013 Little League live streaming and televised coverage thanks to ESPN networks.
On Aug. 21, LittleLeague.org reported that Chula Vista, Calif. advanced to the U.S. Championship game thanks to a three-run homer in the top of the ninth by pitching star, Grant Holman. The homerun blast broke a 3-3 deadlock with Westport, Conn. to give the West team entry into the U.S. final game. One more win will put them into the Little League World Series championship game at Lamade this Sunday with televised coverage on ABC.
With Westport losing, they still have a chance at redemption, as do their opponents tonight, the Sammamish, Wash. squad. The winning team advances to play Chula Vista in the U.S. Championship on Saturday, with ABC showing the game at 3:30 p.m., following the International Championship matchup at 12:30 p.m. EST. Japan has advanced to that game already thanks to a 5-2 win over Mexico on Wednesday.
New England manager Tim Rogers said of his team, "I want them to shake tonight off and go get them tomorrow" referring to the matchup against the Northwest squad scheduled for tonight. Rogers also praised hitter Matt Brown, who accounted for all three runs behind a long ball in the fourth inning. Rogers said, "He came up big. He's as strong as anyone. When he gets good, solid contact, it's going to go."
Sammamish enters tonight's contest after a victory back on Tuesday against the Southeast team, 6 to 5. Westport and Sammamish locked up back on Sunday, Aug. 18, with the New England squad winning by a final of 9 to 7 on a game featured on ABC.
Thursday night's game featuring Sammamish vs. Westport has a start time of 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The LLWS televised coverage takes place via cable or satellite providers on the ESPN 2 channel. Meanwhile, ESPN's broadband sports network, WatchESPN/ESPN3 will also provide coverage with a live stream video feed. See more details at WatchESPN on how to watch the LLWS game online.
