The Little League World Series 2009 baseball International Championship game was in South Williamsport, PA with the Chinese Taipei (2-1) vs. Mexico (3-0) teams competing against each other. Mexico is the favorite going into this game, and they are the only team that Chinese Taipei has lost to in this 2009 Little League World Series.
Many of the families of the Mexico team players arrived from Mexico in two buses and it took them 38 hours to get to South Williamsport, PA.
After a 32-minute rain delay in the first inning, the game resumed with one pop up run and a second hit to left field and with that Chinese Taipei had two runs on the board.
Chinese Taipei started out the third inning with another two runs.
Mexico was finally on the board in the fourth inning with a wild pitch, and it energized the team a little bit. A base hit brought in another run for Mexico.
The catcher for Chinese Taipei expressed his concern for “letting the player past him.”
Chinese Taipei had a double play in the 5th.
Chinese Taipei had an RBI in the 6th, scoring two more runs. After another 49-minute rain delay in the 6th inning, Chinese Taipei scored another 3 runs on base hits.
Mexico tried to rally in the bottom of the 6th, and scored two runs.
Final score - 9-4 Chinese Taipei
And with that the Mexico team has been eliminated from the 2009 Little League World Series of baseball, but will play in the consolation game tomorrow.
Chinese Taipei will move on to the Little League World Series and play the winner of US Championship (Texas or California) for the World Series title.
